BIKE YOGA CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

CORE & FLEXIBILITY   A 60 minute routine that utilizes vinyasa yoga, also known as "flow". This practice is both dynamic and meditative, exploring stillness within motion, strength within ease. Simple yogic breathing techniques begin each session to calm and focus the mind, expand breathing capacity and prepare the body for repatterning. Core strength exercises address lower and upper back weaknesses, and then we flow into a few of the most essential stretches that target the areas of the body most specifically shortened, weakened or tightened by cycling training and racing. With regular practice, you will feel noticeably more at ease on and off the bike.

MONDAY NIGHT ACTIVE RECOVERY This class is strongly influenced by Anusara and Yin yoga methods. It begins much like the core & flexibility class, but then moves into deep passive stretching (yin form) that allows the body to release tension and tightness effortlessly. This practice targets the connective tissues, and works deeply but gently into hips, lower spine and legs. Neck and shoulder tension caused by the mechanics of being on the bike for long hours at a time are also resolved. Taught as an embodied meditation practice, yin yoga engages the mind in focused contemplation. By learning to relax and focus the mind, peak mental performance is achieved, aiding the body in recovery from training and racing. Guided medtitations may be used to help athletes better visualize performance.
