In a private session, my attention is devoted entirely to you, to assist you in getting the most out of your yoga practice. Depending on your needs and interests, we may use breathing techniques, yoga poses, assisted partner stretches, flowing movements, meditation and guided relaxation. Every session is unique, as we create a holistic yoga routine that you can do in-between private sessions .
For some students, their yoga session is purely physical, refining the poses, while others may benefit from a combination of meditation, discussion of philosophy as spiritual counseling, yoga psychology, and meditation and/or visualization to assist healing. Before we begin, we'll discuss your needs to be sure that I can assist you. If your needs are beyond my ability to help, I may refer you to another teacher or health professional.

Some reasons people choose private yoga sessions:
• If you are not comfortable in a class, or can't get to a class
• You need personal attention to modify poses and come up with alternatives for your body
• Regular privates and your own personal routine provide faster and longer-lasting benefit

• To work with injuries (knees, back, neck, shoulders, hips, etc.)
• To tailor a flow of yoga poses and movements for your own practice, that works well in your body
• To work on a specific area of the body that is difficult or troublesome for you
• Safe, nurturing therapeutic environment—One cannot heal the body without also healing the mind. In cases of trauma, depression, eating disorders, and dramatic life changes, private sessions provide greater integration in a safe, supportive, confidential setting to explore your thoughts and emotions.
How often do I need to go? It varies from person to person, though generally it takes a minimum of 3 to 6 sessions for me to get to know you, how your body works, how your mind works, and how you respond to the sessions we create. Most people benefit from a weekly private session with me, supported by their own practice in between visits--whether in a class or doing yoga at home.
Cost: Private sessions are $80/hour or $100 for 90 minutes at any of the public studios where I teach. I am also available to come to your home or office to conduct our session, with an extra charge for travel time. Additional start-up expenses may include yoga props. At a minimum you will need a yoga mat, but may also require the use of blocks, straps, blankets or bolsters and a folding chair. Often I will recommend books, tapes or DVDs to support a home practice.
When? My schedule varies weekly. I make every effort to be available when you need me. Private sessions at Yoga Pearl or BodYoga are limited only by the current class schedule. If you wish to work at your home or office, I usually have more flexibility.

For groups of 5 or more. Business owners and human resource managers can sponsor or subsidize weekly or bi-weekly classes and increase morale and productivity, while reducing absenteeism and turnover. I have extensive experience teaching in a variety of business environments——from the lunchroom to the boardroom. I am also available for public speaking engagements on the topic of yoga as a creative stress management and personal growth tool.
